The Bear Creek Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC) invites all homeowners to
attend a special evening dedicated to community preparedness and neighborhood
resilience.

Over the past year, the EPC has been actively working to enhance Bear Creek's
readiness for emergencies through wildfire preparedness initiatives, resident education,
emergency communications planning, collaboration with local fire officials, and the
development of a community-wide Block Captain program. Join us to learn more about
these efforts and how they contribute to the safety and well-being of our residents.

The second half of the evening will focus on Block Captain Training. Whether you are
a current Block Captain, interested in becoming one, or simply want to learn how the
program supports our community during emergencies, this session will provide valuable
information and practical guidance.

Topics will include:
  • Introduction to the Emergency Preparedness Committee and its mission
  • FIREWISE USA Community wildfire preparedness and home hardening
  • Emergency equipment introduction and overview
  • Overview of the Block Captain Program
  • Block Captain roles, responsibilities, and expectations
  • Emergency communication and neighborhood coordination
  • Questions and discussion

Strong communities are built on prepared neighbors. We encourage all homeowners to
attend and learn how they can play a role in helping Bear Creek become a safer and
more resilient community.

Bear Creek Master Community – FIREWISE USA® Certified

2/18/2026

Bear Creek Master Community is officially recognized as a FIREWISE USA® certified
community
by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). This designation
confirms that Bear Creek is actively implementing community-wide wildfire risk
reduction strategies and maintaining an ongoing mitigation program.

Why This Matters for Insurance

As wildfire underwriting standards tighten across California, insurance carriers
increasingly evaluate community-level risk mitigation. FIREWISE USA® certification
provides documented evidence that Bear Creek meets nationally recognized wildfire
preparedness standards.

Bear Creek 3-Year FIREWISE Action Plan Highlights

• Community outreach and homeowner education
• Home hardening guidance to reduce ember and heat exposure
• Defensible space standards and fuel reduction efforts
• Evacuation planning and emergency preparedness coordination

To see our full FIREWISE USA® site, first register for a free account with NFPA
(Register Now) and then click on your community(Bear Creek Master Association).

What Homeowners May Share with Insurers

Homeowners may indicate that they reside in a FIREWISE USA® recognized
community with an active, documented wildfire mitigation program supported by
ongoing assessments, education, and risk reduction efforts.

Note: FIREWISE USA® certification does not guarantee premium reductions or prevent
non-renewals, but it is widely recognized as a positive risk factor in wildfire insurance
evaluations.
